Men's Track and Field Completes at UWSP Triangular

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's track team competed in the UW-Stevens Point Triangular Saturday, with the Blugolds claiming victory in multiple events.

Robbie Lang and Matt Hartjetook were second and third in the 60 meter dash, clocking in at 7.14 and 7.17, respectively.

In the 200 meter, Cody Prince won the event with a 23.04 finish while teammate Connor Drexler was second at 23.08.

Thurgood Dennis earned top honors in the 400, winning with a time of 50.27. Jimmy Paske came in third with a time of 51.45.

The Blugolds took fourth and fifth in the 800, with Zach Wawrzyniakowski clocking a time of 2:02.14 and Sam Wallenfelt finishing at 2:02.39.

Matt Cooper finished third in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:51.17 while Erik Rosvold was fifth at 8:54.35.

Eau Claire locked up the top three spots in the 60 meter hurdles, with Brandon Zarnoth (8.46) leading the way, followed by Rylan Page (8.51) and Luke Praschak (8.82).

The 4 x 400 relay team of Drexler, Sam Haluska, Cody Andrus and Wawrzyniakowski took third with a time of 3:30.71.

Matt Dietlin took first in the high jump, winning with a height of 6-06.00 while Zarnoth was second in the long jump with a distance of 21-11.00.

Prince was first in the triple jump, with a winning distance of 45-09.00.

Roger Steen was second in the shot put (54-02.50) first in the weight throw (57-09.00) while Alex Mess was fourth in the shot put (50-09.25) and third in the weight throw (51-11.25).

The Blugolds will travel to Menomonie next Saturday to compete in the Warren Bowlus Open.
