Dennis & Zarnoth Earn USTFCCCA Midwest Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track & field members Thurgood Dennis (Jr.-Allouez, Wis./Green Bay Notre Dame) and Brandon Zarnoth (Jr.-Appleton, Wis./North) have been named Midwest Region Athletes of the Year for the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Dennis, who was named the Midwest Track Athlete of the Year, equaled the Division III national lead at 60 meters, finished No. 2 at 200 meters and was No. 8 at 400 meters. He earned WIAC titles at 60 meters and 200 meters, as well as in the 4×200 and 4×400 relays. He will compete in both the 60 and 200 meter events at the NCAA Division III Championship, along with the 4×400 relay.

Zarnoth, who was named the Midwest Field Athlete of the Year, is the top-ranked Division III heptathlete of 2014 with a score of 5409, which ranks him No. 2 in DIII history on the all-time performers list. His historic performance came in a win at the WIAC Championships. He will compete in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship.

Both were also named WIAC Performers of the Meet following the WIAC Championship.
