Track & Field Coach Chip Schneider Inducted into UW-Platteville Hall of Fame

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's and women's track & field head coach Chip Schneider was inducted into the UW-Platteville Hall of Fame as part of the 2013 class in a Dec. 7 ceremony in Platteville.

Schneider is in his 12th year as the Blugold men's head coach and in his eighth season leading the women's team. He has steadily improved the programs, which have earned eight top-ten finishes at nationals in a seven-year span. Schneider was named the WIAC Coach of the Year in 2008 and has coached 75 individual All-Americans and 18 All-America relay teams. He also serves as a cross country assistant coach.

Schneider, who competed at Platteville from 1992 to 1995, still holds five Pioneer track and field records. He was one of the best track and field athletes in school history, as he was an eight-time All-American and a two-time national champion, in the long jump at the 1995 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships and in the 400-meter hurdles at the 1995 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Schneider was a five-time WSUC Outdoor champion and a four-time WSUC Indoor champion. He was a four-time team most valuable athlete and a three-time team captain. Schneider was named UW-Platteville Student-Athlete of the Year in 1994.
