Men's Tennis Dominates Bethany Lutheran

OWATONNA, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team put on a dominant performance Friday, defeating Bethany Lutheran 9-0.

In doubles play, Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis. / Notre Dame) and Grant Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.) led the way with an 8-2 win over Larson/Werckman (BLC) at number one doubles. First year players; Jackson Lindquist (Eau Claire, Wis. /North) and Evan Fridinger (Woodbury, Minn. /Eastridge) earned another win in doubles play with an 8-1 victory at the number two doubles slot. Logan Scott (Foley, Minn.) and Collin Sebring (Lakeville, Minn. /South) defeated Poff/Johnson (BLC) 8-1 at number three doubles, and earned their first victory of the season. 

In singles action Janssen dominated Larson (BLC) at number one singles, while Renan Barros (Itajai, Santa Catarina, Brazil) made quick work of Werckman (BLC) at number two singles. Mauthe and Fridinger earned victories at the number three and four singles spots, respectively. Adam Burk (Forest Lake, Minn/ Totino Grace) and Dane Steidl (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. /Lincoln) both won 6-1, 6-0 at the number five and six singles spots and finished the sweep. 

The Blugolds now 3-0, will travel back home and host UW-Superior February 10th at 11:30am.
