Men's Tennis Wins Two More in Texas

Marshall, TX (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire men's tennis team earned two more wins today on their spring break trip to Texas. The Blugolds won 9-0 over Centenary College and 8-1 over East Texas Baptist. 

 

The Blugolds earned their first win of the day over Centenary College. Michael Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.) and Tom Williams (Burnsville, Minn.) playing number one doubles today were the only Blugolds to compete in doubles action. The number two and three doubles team earned wins by forfeit. Mauthe and Williams won 8-0 over Harrel/Wamsley (Cent).  In singles action, Conrad Felten (Wausau, Wis.)August Badura (Oconomowoc, Wis.), and Dane Steidl (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) all dominated their singles matches each winning with 6-0, 6-0 scores. The three competed at number one, two and three singles respectively.  At the four through six slots for singles the Blugolds won by forfeit. 

In their second match of the day, the Blugold's dominated East Texas Baptist 8-1. The Blugolds swept doubles play and only dropped one match in singles play. Muathe earned another win at the number one slot in singles play, winning 6-1, 6-0.  Schoen and Jansen both earned wins at the number three and four slot. Will Weyenberg (Neenah, Wis.) won 6-4, 6-1 over Salinas(ETB)  at the number five singles slot, while Felten finished the singles sweep with a dominating win at the number six slot.

The Blugolds will finish their spring break trip in Texas, facing Austin at 5:30 pm tomorrow.
