Dubuque, IA (Blugolds.com)-  UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team earned its fourth and fifth straight win today at Dubuque University (IA). The Blugolds won in dominate fashion in both victories, defeating Dubuque 9-0 and Lawrence University 8-1.

Michael Mauthe (Neenah,Wis) continues to roll at No. 1 singles winning 6-1, 6-1 over Sablay (Dubuque).  Andrew Dahl (Fort Atkinson,Wis.) and  Daniel Schoen (Brookfield,Wis.) both won convincingly at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. First year Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis.) earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Hanling (Dubuque) in the No. 4 singles slot. Conrad Felten (Wausau, Wis.) defeated Hill (Dubuque) 6-0, 6-1 while Dane Steidl (Wisconsin Rapids,Wis.) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. In doubles action the pair of Mauthe and Dahl earned an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles Will Weyenberg (Neenah,Wis.) and teammate Schoen cruised to an 8-0 win. Felten and Janssen finished off the 9-0 sweep with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles. 

Against Lawrence University, the Blugolds won five-of-six singles matches. August Badura (Oconomowoc, Wis.) picked up a win at No. 6 singles, defeating Laursen(Lawrence) 6-3, 6-2. Dahl, Schoen, Felten, and Janssen each earned wins in singles play. The Blugolds swept doubles action with Mauthe/Dahl leading the way at No. 1 doubles with a 8-6 victory. Weyenberg/Schoen dominated at the No. 2 spot with an 8-1 win, and it was Janssen/Felten again to finish the sweep with an 8-2 victory. 

The win over Lawrence is the Blugolds fifth straight victory, the Blugolds improving to 7-2 on the season. The Blugolds will compete at the USTA Eye Open March 10-12 at the Eau Claire YMCA.
