Men's Tennis Edges Bethel, 5-4

Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com)- UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team won a close battle with Bethel University, 5-4 at the Eau Claire YMCA Tennis Center Friday night. The Blugolds came into the match ranked No.18th in the region. 

Results

Bethel University defeated the Blugolds in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches to start the night but Conrad Felten (Wausau, Wis.) and doubles partner Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis.) got the Blugolds on the board with an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.  

The Blugolds went on to win 4 out of 6 singles matches to come back and edge Bethel 5-4.  In singles action, Michael Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.) won a close match over Schull (BU) with scores of 7-6, 2-6, 10-7 at No. 1 singles.  Danny Schoen (Brookfield, Wis.) tallied 6-1, 6-1 scores for the win at No. 4, Conrad Felten (Wausau, Wis.) and Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis.) also recorded wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

The Blugolds match against Carleton College (Minn.) for Feb. 24th was cancelled due to weather conditions. The Blugolds are on a three-match win streak and will compete again at Dubuque (IA) on March 4th.
