OSHKOSH,WIS. (blugolds.com)- The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team earned a dominating win over UW-Oshkosh 9-0, but then fell to UW-Whitewater 0-9 Saturday afternoon.
Kyle Hoffmann (Sr. Franklin,Wis.) and Michael Mauthe (Jr. Neenah,Wis.) got close wins at number one and two singles, winning 6-3, 7-6 and 7-6, 6-4 respectively. At number three singles Will Weyenberg (Jr. Neenah,Wis.) had a dominating win over Adam Martin (UWO) 6-0,6-0. August Badura (Fr. Oconomowoc,Wis.) and Conrad Felten (Jr. Wausau,Wis.) had convincing wins at number four and five singles, while Jordon Stevens (Sr. Woodbury,Minn.) finished the singles sweep at number six singles winning 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action the Blugolds continued their dominance. Hoffmann/Mauth defeated Gorski/Kuzmanovie (UWO) 8-5 at number one doubles. Sophomore duo Andrew Dahl (So. Fort Atkinson,Wis.) and Andrew Rust (So. Golden Valley,Minn.) won 8-2 at number two doubles and Stevens/Weyenberg shut out O'Connell/Leffler 8-0 at number three doubles.
Later Saturday afternoon the Blugods faced UW-Whitewater falling 0-9 to the Warhawks. The Blugolds finished the regular season of play with a 18-6 record.
