Men's Tennis Drops a Close Match to Wheaton

HANOVER PARK, IL (Blugolds.com) -The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team fell to Wheaton 5-4 Friday night. 

Results

Wheaton able to edge out close wins at number one, two, and three singles gave them the narrow 5-4 victory over the Blugolds. 

Daniel Schoen (Fr. Brookfield, Wis.) at number four singles defeated Metz Lincoln (Wheaton) 7-6, 7-6, while Andrew Rust (So. Golden Valley, Minn./ Hopkins) claimed a win at number five singes, winning 6-3, 6-1. Andrew Dahl (So. Fort Atkinson, Wis.)  got a win at number six singles 6-0, 7-5. 

In doubles action, the pair of Jordan Stevens (Sr. Woodbury, Minn.) and Will Weyenberg (Jr. Neenah, Wis.) were able to pick up the only win for the Blugolds.  Stevens and Weyenberg defeated Cheng/Wenzel (Wheaton)  8-1 at number three doubles.

The Blugolds return to action tomorrow facing North Central (Ill.) at Wheaton.
