SARTELL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's tennis team began their season with two wins against the University of Saint Johns and Saint Cloud State University on Saturday.

In their first matchup of the day, the Blugolds narrowly defeated St. Cloud State five matches to four. The morning started off with six individual matches, with victories coming from Kyle Hoffman (Sr.-Franklin, Wis/Franklin), Michael Mauthe (Jr.-Neenah, Wis/Neenah), Will Weyenberg (Jr.-Neenah, Wis/Neenah), and Andrew Dahl (So.-Fort Atkinson, Wis/ Fort Atkinson). Weyenberg and Mauthe later added the fifth victory in a doubles match.

The second matchup of the day was much more lopsided, winning 6-3 over St. Johns. The men's tennis team will be back in action on Friday February 12 against Bethany Lutheran College.
