Miller wins national title in 200-yard breaststroke

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire had strong showings in both the men's and women's 100-yard breaststroke on Friday, with Collin Miller (Jr. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) earning his first national title and Sam Senczyszyn (Sr. – Grafton, WI) taking third at NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.

Miller, who entered the meet as the only DIII swimmer in the nation to own a time under 54 seconds this season, had another strong performance in the prelims, clocking in at 54.22 to maintain his number one seed headed into the finals. In the finals, Miller kicked into gear to finish in 53.38 and claim the national championship.

In the women's race, Senczyszyn recorded a time of 1:01.11 in the prelims, shaving .07 off her season-best. In the finals, the senior improved her time yet again and finished in 1:00.97 to take third place.

Miller, Senczyszyn and diver Dylan Glumac-Berberich (Jr. – Fridley, MN) will all be in action on Saturday. Miller and Senczyszyn will compete in the 100-yard freestyle while Glumac-Berberich will compete in the 3-meter dive. The trials will begin at 10 AM EST with the finals beginning at 6 PM EST.
