BROWN DEER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire swimming and diving teams had another stellar day at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) on Friday, with the women taking over first place and the men breaking two more records.

The Blugold women – who trailed UW-La Crosse by a point after the first day – now lead the field with 537 points. The Eagles are in second with 521. On the men's side, Stevens Point remains in the lead (546) while the Blugolds are in third (409).

For the women, Sam Senczyszyn (Sr. – Grafton, WI) won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.69 and was also on the 200 medley relay team with Maddie Kooima (Fr. – Stoughton, WI), Emma Steffel (Fr. – Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon) and Brittany Farr (Sr. – Madison, WI/James Madison Memorial) that placed second (1:46.54).

Also tallying a second place finish was the 800 freestyle relay team of Paige Pelikan (Fr. – New Berlin, WI/West), Anna Theisen (Jr. - Glenbeulah, WI/Plymouth), Rachael Streit (So. – Lakeville, MN/South) and Kate Stensberg (So. – Antigo, WI) who finished with a time of 7:53.65.

For the Blugold men, Collin Miller (Jr. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) set a new school and WIAC record  in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 53.62. Miller, Michael Bylander (Fr. – Baxter, MN/Brainerd), Conner Pendill (Jr. – Savage, MN/Burnsville) and Caleb Odmark (Sr. – White Bear Lake, MN) also broke a school record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:31.79 which placed third.

Diver Dylan Glumac-Berberich (Jr. – Fridley, MN) took first in the 1-meter dive, recording a score of 529.00 while Bylander also had a strong finish in the 100 backstroke, taking second place with a time of 50.61.

The Blugolds will start Saturday's prelims at 10 a.m. with the finals session beginning at 6 p.m. for the third and final day of the championship.
