Men's Swim & Dive in 2nd, Women in 3rd after Day 1 of WIAC Championships

BROWN DEER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – After day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's swimming and diving team is in second place while the women are in third.

The Blugold men tallied 211 points on the first day of competition while UW-Stevens Point leads with 264. One the women's side, Eau Claire recorded 169 points while UW-Whitewater is in first with 231.

Leading the way for the Blugolds was Collin Miller (So. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy), who won the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 1:50.65 while Dayton Miller (Sr. - Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) was third with a time of 1:54.63.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Miller, Jack Kelly (Sr. - Medina, MN/Wayzata), Caleb Odmark (Jr. – White Bear Lake, MN) and Logan Coert (Sr. – Cedarburg, WI) were third with a time of 1:24.39 while Dylan Glumac-Berberich (So. – Fridley, MN) finished second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 445.45.

For the women, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jessica Short (Jr. – Grafton, WI), Brittany Farr (Jr. – Madison, WI/James Madison Memorial), Olivia Hanzak (Fr. – Crystal, MN/ Robbinsdale Armstrong) and Emily Ries (Fr. - Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) were second with a time of 1:37.46. Short also placed second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:06.45.

The Blugolds will be back in the pool Friday for the second day of the three day meet.
