Blugolds fall to Tommies

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire swimming and diving team returned to McPhee Friday night where they hosted the University of St. Thomas.

Results

On the women's side, the Blugolds fell to the Tommies by a score of 203.5 to 87.5.

Leading the Blugold women was Jessica Short (Jr. – Grafton, WI) who won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle.

For the men, St. Thomas won the dual, 149-111.

Collin Miller (So. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.57 while Joseph Ackerson (Fr. – Excelsior, MN/Minnetonka) took first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.89.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Miller, Jack Kelly (Sr. - Medina, MN/Wayzata), Caleb Odmark (Jr. – White Bear Lake, MN) and Logan Coert (Sr. – Cedarburg, WI) won the event with a time of 1:26.37 and Dylan Glumac-Berberich (So. – Fridley, MN) won the 1-meter dive with a score of 290.65.

"The team raced tough and had some great swims," said Head Coach Annie Ryder. "I am happy with the effort and the process as we approach our championship season. The team has worked incredibly hard over winter training and look strong and fast as we end our dual meet season. I am proud of all of our seniors as we celebrated senior night. This group of seniors came in my first year so it's hard to let go of this group."

The Blugolds have a quick turnaround as they will travel to Whitewater to take on the Warhawks at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
