Blugolds in third after Day 1 of UWSP Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire swimming and diving team started the second half of the season Friday night at the UW-Stevens Point Invite, with both the men and women in third place after day one of the two-day meet.

Results

On the men's side, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Collin Miller (So. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy), Jack Kelly (Sr. - Medina, MN/Wayzata) , Caleb Odmark (Jr. – White Bear Lake, MN) and Logan Coert (Sr. – Cedarburg, WI) placed second with a time of 1:26.66.

Dayton Miller (Sr. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) took third in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:05.32 while Collin Miller was third in the 100-yard freestyle, recording a time of 47.85.

The 400-yard medley relay team of Nicholas Meints (So. – Parker, CO/Ponderosa), Collin Miller, Andrew Strauch (Jr. – Lakeville, MN/North) and Coert also finished third with a time of 3:38.93.

After the first day of competition, Stevens Point leads with a score of 607.5 with Gustavus Adolphus College in second (480) and the Blugolds in third (396.5).

For the women, Jessica Short (Jr. – Grafton, WI) was second in the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 2:13.12 and finished third in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 55.21 to lead the Blugolds.

In addition, Anna Theisen (So. - Glenbeulah, WI/Plymouth) was third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:30.69.

Heading into the final day, Minnesota-State, Mankato is in the lead (612) and is followed by Gustavus (381), Eau Claire (363) and Stevens Point (245).

The Blugolds will complete in the second and final day on Saturday.
