Swim and Dive competes at St. Thomas Invite

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire swimming and diving team competed at the JoAnn Andregg Invite hosted by the University of St. Thomas this weekend. The men came away with a third place finish while the women were fifth.

Results

Leading the way for the Blugold men was Collin Miller (So. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) was second in the 100-yard freestyle (47.07) and was third in both the 100-yard breaststroke (59.83) and 50-yard freestyle (21.33).

Dayton Miller (Sr. – Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) was second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.23) and fourth in the 200-yard IM (2:02.13) while Logan Coert (Sr. – Cedarburg, WI) was fifth in the 100-yard free (48.67).

Nicholas Meints (So. – Parker, CO/Ponderosa) was third in the 400-yard IM (4:16.50) and Andrew Strauch (Jr. – Lakeville, MN/North) was fourth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.93).

The 400-yard relay team of C. Miller, Caleb Odmark (Jr. – White Bear Lake, MN), Andrew Shane (So. – Kenosha, WI/Badger) and Coert were third with a time of 3:15.94. They also teamed up in the 200-yard freestyle relay in which they placed fourth (1:28.22).

In addition, the 400-yard medley relay team of C. Miller, D. Miller, Strauch and Coert finished fifth with a time of 3:39.17.

On the women's side, 400-yard freestyle relay team of Emily Ries (Fr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial), Molly Quinlan (Sr. – Roseville, MN), Olivia Hanzak (Fr. – Crystal, MN/Robbinsdale Armstrong) and Jessica Short (Jr. – Grafton, WI) were sixth with a time of 3:47.82.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Short, Quinlan, Jessica Wilson (Fr. – Brookfield, WI/ Wauwatosa West) and Brittany Farr (Jr. – Madison, WI/James Madison Memorial) placed seventh (1:43.06) while the 800-yard freestyle relay team of Rachael Streit (Fr. – Lakeville, MN/South), Kate Stensberg (Fr. – Antigo, WI), Hanzak and Sari Mailey (Sr. – Minnetrista, MN/Mound Westonka) were eighth with a time of 8:26.79.

Camille Madsen (Jr. – Andover, MN) was eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.34).

The Blugolds will have the next few weeks off from competition and have their next meet Dec. 1-3 at the Rochester Invitational.
