Men's Swimming & Diving Competes at Rochester Invite

ROCHESTER, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming & diving team competed Saturday and Sunday at the Rochester Invitational, hosted by St. Cloud State University (Minn.).

Results

The Blugolds had 10 top-eight finishes, five of them coming from relay teams.

Jake McDade (Jr.-Monona, Wis./Monona Grove) had the best finish as he took fourth place in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:48.24.

Alex Card (Sr.-Prior Lake, Minn.) was fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:09.19. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Ben Epperly (Sr.-Schaumburg, Ill.), Aaron Lickel (Sr.-Madison, Wis./East), Spencer Rose (Sr.-Brookfield, Wis./Central) and Card also was fifth as they finished with a time of 1:28.05.

With sixth place finishes were Nick Stern (So.-Waverly, Iowa) in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:14.79 along with the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relay teams. In the 200-yard medley relay, Ryan Young (Fr.-Lakeville, Minn./North), Card, Reed Molander (Fr.-Urbandale, Iowa) and Lickel finished with a time of 1:38.86. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Card, Molander, Lickel and Rose finished with a time of 3:12.53.

The Blugolds will now be off nearly a month for the holiday break. Over winter break, the Blugolds will face Willamette & Whitworth in a relay at Coronado Island, Calif. on Jan. 4. They will get back to regular competitions Jan. 17 at the UW-Stevens Point Invite.
