
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming & diving team finished in first place out of three teams, hosting a meet in the McPhee Physical Education Center today.
Eau Claire won the meet with 898 points while UW-River Falls was second with 329 and UW-Oshkosh was third with 304.
The Blugolds won 10 events while taking second in 14. Two Blugolds each won two individual events.
Diving, Shawn Westphal (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./North) took first in the three-meter with 192.45 points and won the one-meter with 210.45.
Aaron Lickel (Sr.-Madison, Wis./East) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.60 seconds and took first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.85 seconds.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Alex Card (Sr.-Prior Lake, Minn.) took first with a time of 59.82 seconds.
Reed Molander (Fr.-Urbandale, Iowa) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.93 seconds.
Winning the 500-yard freestyle was Alex Strom (Sr.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) with a time of 5:08.48.
Jake McDade (Jr.-Monona, Wis./Monona Grove) won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:28.82.
The Blugolds also won two relays.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Ryan Young (Fr.-Lakeville, Minn./North), Card, Molander and Ben Epperly (Sr.-Shaumburg, Ill.) took first with a time of 1:40.15.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Card, Ben Fisher (Fr.-Roselle, Ill./Lake Park), Lickel and Epperly claimed first with a time of 1:28.61.
The Blugolds will be back in action on Dec. 7 and 8 at the Rochester Invitational. The meet gets underway at 9:30 a.m. both days.
