Men's Swimming & Diving Wins Home Meet

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming & diving team finished in first place out of three teams competing at the McPhee Physical Education Center today.

Eau Claire won with 838 points while UW-Oshkosh was second with 354 and UW-River Falls was third with 346.

The Blugolds captured 12 event victories.

Nick Badilla (Sr.-Appleton, Wis./North) won both diving events with a mark of 313.45 in the three-meter and a score of 291.55 in the one-meter dive.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Alex Card (Jr.-Prior Lake, Minn.) took first with a time of 55.18 seconds. He also won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:01.00.

Spencer Rose (Jr.-Brookfield, Wis./Central) came in first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:32.11.

Evan Koch (So.-Oak Creek, Wis.) took the top spot in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:09.38.

Taking first in the 50-yard freestyle was Ben Epperly (Jr.-Schaumburg, Ill.) with a mark of 22.47 seconds.

Jake McDade (So.-Monona, Wis./Monona Grove) finished first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.82.

First in the 200-yard breaststroke was Corey Groshens (Sr.-St. Louis Park, Minn./Hopkins) with a time of 2:15.75.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Nick Madrinich (Sr.-Chaska, Minn.) was first with a time of 5:10.99.

The Blugolds also won two relays.

Groshens, Card, Aaron Lickel (Jr.-Madison, Wis./East) and Rose won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:29.69.

The same four swimmers took first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.94.

The Blugolds will take a little time off now with their next competition scheduled for Dec. 1-2 at the Rochester Invitational, hosted by St. Cloud.
