The first period started off with a bang as Jake Bresser (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) scored the night's first goal just four minutes into the period. His seventh goal of the year would open the flood gates as Andrew McGlynn (So. – St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers College) and Tyler Tomberlin (Andover, MN) would both strike to give the Blugolds a 3-0 lead after the first frame.

The second period held a much more even tilt to the game. Eau Claire was able to keep the Vikings to just four shots while recording 14 of their own.

In the third, the physicality and speed were turned up a notch as the Blugolds and Vikings would see 16 minutes of combined penalty minutes in the last period alone. Zach Kennedy (Jr. – Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) would add to the Eau Claire lead late in the frame for his third goal of the year.

Goaltender Zach Dyment (Jr. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) stopped all 19 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season. He improves his record to 9-2-1.

The Blugolds will continue nonconference play next weekend as they travel to Moorhead, MN for a two games series with Concordia-Moorhead (MN) College on January 16th and 17th.
