Bresser tallies two goals in win over St. Olaf

Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – In their second regular season game of the season, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey hosted St. Olaf College on Friday night, defeating the Oles by a score of 7-2.

In the first period, Eau Claire Memorial alum, Jake Bresser (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) got things going with a rebound chance in front to tally the game's first goal just under ten minutes into the contest. Andrew McGlynn (So. – St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers College) and Adam Parsells (Jr. – Wausau, WI/West) would both get credit with assists on the play. It was from then on that the Blugolds turned up their intensity and sped ahead of the Oles.

Just three minutes into the second frame, Logan Von Ruden (Sr. – Northfield, MN) would blast a shot from the point past the St. Olaf netminder to extend the lead to 2-0. Following their captain's lead, Charles Weiand (So. – Rosemount, MN) and Cole Paskus (Jr. – Madison, WI/West) would both score their first goals of their Blugold careers off rebounds to put UW-Eau Claire up 4-0.

To cap off a frenzy of goals in the middle period, Tyler Tomberlin (Sr. – Andover, MN) and Bresser would both find the back of the net to give the Blugolds a solid 6-1 lead after 40 minutes.

The Blugolds would add one more in the third to secure their first win of the season.

Goaltender Zach Dyment (Jr. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) stopped 21 of the 23 shots he faced on his way to earning his first win of the season and improving his record to 1-0-1.

The Blugolds will be back in action on Saturday, November 9th at 7 PM when they take on St. Mary's University (MN) at Hobbs Ice Arena.
