Men's Hockey announces team awards

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team held their annual year-end banquet, handing out awards for the 2018-19 season. The awards given out were the Wallace G. Avervik Award, Most Dedicated, Richard G. O'Brien Award and Jeff Jaraczewski MVP Award.

The Wallace G. Avervik Award is given to the team's top freshman player. This season, it was awarded to Andrew McGlynn (Fr.- St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers College). McGlynn played an important role in the Blugold offense, scoring 14 points on the season and finishing with a +/- of +20.

The winner of the Most Dedicated Award and Jeff Jaraczewski MVP Award was Lucas Kohls (Sr.-Forest Lake, MN). Kohls earned All-WIAC honors for the second straight season after managing 23 points on the season and a +/- of +17. He also tied for the team lead with four powerplay goals, playing his best in crucial situations.

The Richard G. O'Brien Award is awarded to the player who excels both on and off the ice. Braden Mitchell (Jr.-Anchorage, AK/Service) was given the honor for this season.

The Blugolds went 19-7-2 overall and 4-3-1 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. The 2018-19 season culminated in a loss in the WIAC Championship game to UW-Stevens Point.
