MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) announced the men's hockey All-WIAC team Thursday, which featured five Blugolds.

WIAC Release

Three Blugolds were named to the First Team, Jake Bresser (Jr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial), Lucas Kohls (Sr. – Forest Lake, MN) and Johnny Mueller (Sr. – St. Peters, MO/Francis Howell Central).

Bresser has been a key instrument to the fierce Blugold offensive. Bresser, who has four goals, 16 assists and 20 points this year, started the year with eight points in the first seven games. The junior has also played in every game this season and moves up a spot on the All-WIAC list after earning Honorable Mention honors a year ago.

Kohls earned a spot on the First Team for the second-straight season and currently leads the Blugolds with nine goals, 14 assists, and 23 points. Though he transferred to Eau Claire as a defensemen, Kohls made the move to forward in his junior year and made an immediate impact. His four powerplay goals this season is tied for the team lead in crucial situations.

Johnny Mueller claimed a spot on the First Team in just his second season with Eau Claire. The speedy defenseman's ability to move the puck around the blueline and jump into the odd man rushes is key for two 13-point seasons. With a stellar +13 overall on the season, Mueller has been a vital player when it comes to turning the tide on the game.

Adam Parsells (So. – Wausau, WI/West) also earned WIAC honors for the second time in his career after being named to the Honorable Mention squad. The sophomore defenseman has contributed to the offensive as well, especially in a key WIAC game at home this year versus UW-River Falls. With the game tied at 4-4 late in the third period, Parsells would complete his first collegiate hat trick on the powerplay to propel the Blugolds past the Falcons.

In addition, David Johnson (Jr. – Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) was named to the All-Sportsmanship team for the Blugolds.

Eau Claire finished the regular season in second place in the conference and will compete for their second-straight Commissioner's Cup as they take on UW-Stevens Point in the WIAC title game on Saturday. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app on your mobile device.
