ST. PETER, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team got back in the win column on Friday as they traveled to Gustavus Adolphus College to return to their regular season play. Despite taking almost an entire month off, Eau Claire came away with the 1-0 road victory.

Box Score

In the first two periods, neither side would seem to gain control of the ice with the only goal of the game coming in the final frame. Jon Richards (So. – Callaway, MN/Detroit Lakes) would break the tie in the second to last minute with assists going to Kyle Froese (Sr. – Traverse City, MI/Central) and Jake Bresser (Jr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial). This would be Richards' fifth goal on the year.

Eau Claire would not be able to capitalize on a single powerplay opportunity through the 60 minutes. This is an area head coach Matt Loen may have to tweak due to past seasons that bolstered dominating special teams performances.

Zach Dyment (So. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) would stop all 21 shots he faced to earn his 12th win of the season and his sixth road win. This would be Dyment's third shutout of the season.

The Blugolds will continue their Minnesota non-conference road trip on Saturday, as they will travel to Concordia-Moorehead to take on the Cobbers. Game time is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app on your mobile device.
