EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team was back on home ice Friday night as they hosted the Northland College Lumberjacks. Despite a scoreless first period and getting scored on first, the Blugolds would erupt for six goals of their own to earn their 11th victory of the season.

Box Score

After coming off a conference weekend, Eau Claire looked to get things started early to forget about the 2-2 tie to UW-River Falls. With no goals scored by either side after the first period, it was Northland scoring a rebound goal to tally the game's first goal. No more than two minutes later, the Blugolds would answer and would push back hard.

Connor Koviak (Fr. - Canton, MI) would bury a centering pass from Tyler Tomberlin (Jr. - St.Paul, MN/Andover)  to even things at one goal each. With the game looking balanced once again, Jake Bresser (Jr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) would show off his skills and open the flood gates. Bresser would make a nice toe drag around a sprawling Lumberjack defenseman and pick out the top right corner of the goal to put Eau Claire up 2-1. As the entire rink was just sitting back down, Tyler Tomberlin would capitalize just ten seconds after the go-ahead goal to give the Blugolds some breathing room. To cap off the period, Austin Redders (So. - McFarland, WI) would light the lamp with just three minutes remaining in the period for his second goal of the season.

In the third period, the Blugolds would strike first to try and put the Lumberjacks away. Jack Murphy (So. – Prior Lake, MN) would get credit for the fifth goal and it would be his fourth of the season. Eau Claire would eventually capitalize after a Northland turnover for their sixth goal, but they would also give up two goals in the final period. The Blugolds had 11 different players record points in this game and had three players with multi-point nights.

Zach Dyment (So. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) would stop 13 of the 16 shots he faced to earn his 11th win of the season and his sixth home win.

The Blugolds will be back at Hobbs on Saturday, December 8th as they host Marian University for another non-conference battle. Game time is scheduled for 7pm. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app on your mobile device.
