ST. PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire men's hockey team capped off their weekend road trip versus another nonconference opponent in Hamline University. The Blugolds entered the game outshooting opponents on an average of 39 shots to 17 shots. The Blugolds trailed early on but came back as they overpowered the Pipers in a 5-2 victory.

Box Score

Despite being down early in the first period, the Blugolds caught a break on the powerplay as Lucas Kohls (Sr. - Forest Lake, MN) would pound home a rebound to tie the game and earn himself his team-leading third goal of the season. Assists would be credited to Andrew McGlynn (Fr. – St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers College) and Jake Bresser (Jr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial). McGlynn's three assists on the night earn him a spot on top of the team tied for the lead in points with Kohls.

In the second period, the Blugolds wouldn't take their foot off the gas as another newcomer, Jon Richards (So. – Callaway, MN/Detroit Lakes), would put away his first goal in an Eau Claire sweater. That would now account for four of the eight new players to the Blugold squad to have played in a game and earn themselves a goal.

Another newcomer making himself known around the league, Kyle Froese (Traverse City, MI/Central), would add on to the Blugold lead with the third and fourth goals, rifling past the Piper goalie. McGlynn, Kohls, Steen Cooper (Jr. – Duncan, BC) and Nathan Dingmann (So. – Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) would all find themselves with assists on Froese's goals.

Eau Claire would close out the third period with an empty net goal by Zach Kennedy (So. – Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) with Simon Sagissor (Fr. – Stillwater, MN) earning an assist and his first point as a Blugold as well.

Goalie Zach Dyment (So. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) stopped 9 of 11 shots and continued his winning record to 5-0-0.

The Blugolds will continue their stint with MIAC (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) schools next week as they host St. Thomas University on Friday, November 9th at 7 p.m. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app on your mobile device.
