Men’s Hockey tops Concordia-Moorhead 2-1

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team defeated the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers 2-1 on Saturday night at Hobbs Ice Center.

In desperate need of a winning streak, the Blugolds now have two in a row thanks to the strong resurgence of forward Todd Koritzinsky (Sr. – Verona, WI) who netted the game-winning goal in this one after two points last night. 

UW-Eau Claire would use the power play to get the first goal of this game scored by Colton Wolter (Sr. – Fairbanks, AK) to make it 1-0 with 5:24 left in the first period. Wolter's third goal of the season was assisted by Adam Parsells (Fr. – Wausau, WI) and Lucas Kohls (Jr. – Forest Lake, MN).

UW-Eau Claire would hold a 14-10 lead in shots on goal after one period of play.

The Cobbers would tie things up late in the second period with a man advantage of their own scored by Dalton Mills to make it 1-1.

Despite giving up the goal, the Blugolds held a commanding 35-20 lead in shots on goal.

Koritzinsky added to his strong weekend with the game-winning goal in this one of a nice feed from Kyle Lee (Sr. – Wausau, WI) to make it 2-1 early in the final frame.

The Cobbers would pull their goaltender late in the game, but the Blugolds would hang on for the 2-1 win.

The Blugolds would finish with a 43-28 advantage in shots on goal.

Zach Dyment (Fr. - Abbotsford, BC) made his third start in net on the season and was strong yet again saving 27 of the 28 shots he saw on the night. Dyment has now only surrendered four goals in his first three games as a Blugold.

The Blugolds (10-6-0, 1-1-0) will look to make it three in a row as they travel to Minnesota to take on Saint John's on Thursday.
