ASHLAND, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team fell to Northland College 4-2 on Tuesday night at Bay Area Civic Center.

Box Score

Following a 1-1 record last week, the Blugolds fell out of the national polls for the first time on the season with an 8-4 overall record, and things didn't get much better in this one.

UW-Eau Claire started strong with an early lead in shots on goal, but the Jacks would strike first near the mid-point of the first period on a goal scored by Petter Bulling to make it 1-0.

Despite the 1-0 deficit, the Blugolds would lead 14-8 in shots on goal.

UW-Eau Claire would get the equalizer with 7:15 left in the second period on a goal scored by Lucas Kohls (Jr. – Forest Lake, MN) to make it 1-1. The senior forward's third goal of the season was assisted by Kyle Lee (Sr. – Wausau, WI) and Adam Parsells (Fr. – Wausau, WI).

Mac Jansen (Sr. – White Bear Lake, MN) tallied his team leading ninth goal of the season to make it 2-1 with under a minute left in the middle frame assisted by Lee and Kohls.

The Blugolds weren't able to hold on to the lead however, as the Jacks tallied three goals in the final period including an empty-net goal to go on to win 4-2.

Goaltender David Johnson (So. – Bloomington, MN) got his third start of the season and surrendered three goals on the 21 shots he saw.

The Blugolds (8-5-0, 1-1-0) will look to get on a winning streak starting with their next game on the road at Marian.
