LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Blugolds.com) - The No. 11 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team got their first win of the season with a 3-2 win over Lake Forest in overtime on Saturday at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.

Box Score

After being shut out last night, the Blugolds were able to find the back of the net three times with two coming from senior forward Jesse Tredinnick (Sr. – Onalaska, WI) who was on the ice for all three goals.

The Foresters got on the board first on a goal scored by George Gerasimou with 11:47 left in the first period.

UW-Eau Claire finally broke through for their first goal of the season just over 76 total minutes into the young season. Captain Jake Hopfner (Sr. – Eastpointe, MI) found the back of the net with 3:59 left in the first period. Adam Kleven (So. – Peoria, AZ) was credited with the lone assist on the goal.

Despite committing three penalties and being outshot 16-5 in the frame, the Blugolds were able to take the 1-1 draw into the locker room.

Tredinnick made his mark late in the second period with his first goal of the night unassisted to make it 2-1 with 1:49 left.

Lake Forest would find an answer 15 seconds later on a goal scored by John Nugent to send the game into the second intermission with the 2-2 tie.

Despite outshooting the Foresters 21-12 in the second and third periods, overtime would be needed to decide this one.

On a breakaway with just over a minute left in the overtime period, Tredinnick buried one past Lake Forest goaltender Louis-Philippe De Courcy top shelf to win it in overtime. The assists on the goal went to T.J. Stuntz (Sr. – Austin, TX) and defenseman Tyler Hart (Jr. – Woodbury, MN).

Goaltender Camden Haugenoe (Fr. - Williston, ND) made his second consecutive start in net for the Blugolds and earned his first collegiate win saving 27 of the 29 shots he faced.

The Blugolds (1-1-0) will head back to Eau Claire for two games at home beginning with a Friday night tilt at 7:00 p.m. with Hamline.
