ST. PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The No. 7 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team fell for the first time in the new year losing 2-0 to St. Thomas University at St. Thomas Ice Arena on Saturday night.

Box Score

The Blugolds were shut out for the first time this season as Tommie goaltender Joe Morris saved all of the 36 shots he faced on the night.

Both St. Thomas goals came on the power play with the first coming in the first period on a goal from Willie Faust and the second by Joakim Broberg in the second period.

The Blugolds fought hard in the final 20 minutes to come back as they did the night before in Minneapolis against Augsburg, but fell short.

Colton Wolter (So. – Fairbanks, AK) had a very strong night in the face-off circle winning 14 of his 16 attempts.

Goaltender Tyler Green (Sr. – Noblesville, IN) was rather stellar in the game despite the result saving 38 of the 40 Tommie shots. Green's record will fall to 7-3-1 on the season.

The Blugolds (11-4-2) will look to get back on track as their road trip continues next Thursday for a big conference matchup with the No. 11-ranked River Falls Falcons.
