Andersen Named WIAC Men’s Hockey Athlete of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's hockey forward Ross Andersen (Sr.-River Falls, WI) has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Hockey Athlete of the Week, it was announced today by WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Anderson scored three points for the No. 9-ranked Blugolds defeating Hamline University (Minn.) 5-2 and Bethel University (Minn.) 6-3 playing at home for the first time this season.  Down 2-0 against Hamline, the Blugolds went on to score the last five goals of the game in which Andersen assisted on the game's final goal at 13:01 of the third period.  Against Bethel, Andersen scored two goals and assisted on another.  Andersen broke a 1-1 tie with his first goal of the game at 9:40 of the first period.  Tied at 3-3, Andersen scored the eventual game-winning goal at 14:35 of the second period short-handed, his second short-handed goal of the season.  Andersen leads the Blugolds in points (7), goals (4) and assists (3) for the season.
