Six Blugold Men's Hockey Players Receive WIAC Honors

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Six UW-Eau Claire men's hockey players have been honored by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with the announcement of the All-WIAC team today.

Leading the Blugolds by being named to the first team were David Donnellan (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial), Tyler Green (So.-Noblesville, Ind.) and Jon Waggoner (Sr.-Fairbanks, Alaska/Lathrop).

Donnellan, a defenseman and team captain, is tied for third on the team this year with 18 points coming from nine goals and nine assists. He has the fourth most points of any defenseman in the league. Donnellan is also tied for second on the team with two game-winning goals and leads the team and is fourth in the WIAC with four power-play goals. Donnellan was honorably mentioned on the All-WIAC team last season.

Green, a goalie, has started 19 of the Blugolds' 27 games in-goal this season. He has played more than 1,068 minutes in-goal and has made 505 saves, third most in the WIAC, while allowing 40 goals for a goals-against-average of 2.25, third best in the league and a save percentage of .927. He has recorded five of the Blugolds' school record nine shutouts this year, and was part of a pair that put together an NCAA Division III record shutout streak of five games and a streak of consecutive shutout minutes that also set a Division III record.

Waggoner, a forward, has 18 points this season from 10 goals, second most on the team, and eight assists. He has three power-play goals, second most on the team, and two game-winning goals, tied for second on the team.

Honorably mentioned were Jack Callahan (Jr.-Red Bank, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) and Joe Krause (Jr.-Hermantown, Minn.).

Callahan, a defenseman, is second on the team this season with 19 points coming from five goals and a team-high 14 assists, which is also tied for eighth in the WIAC. He has the third most points of any defenseman in the league. Last season Callahan was selected to the All-WIAC first team.

Krause, a forward, leads the Blugolds in goals and points with 11 and 20, respectively. He also has a team-high four game-winning goals, tied for second most in the WIAC, playing in all 27 games so far this year.

Patrick Moore (Fr.-Grand Rapids, Minn.) was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team, which was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.  It included one member from each school.
