Joe Krause Named WIAC Athlete of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's hockey player Joe Krause (Jr.-Hermantown, Minn.) has been named a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.

Krause helped the Blugolds to two victories during the week, scoring three goals and picking up two assists.  In a 6-1 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering on Dec. 13, he got the Blugolds going, scoring the game's first goal at 6:06 in the second period on a power-play.  Krause also had an assist on the Blugolds' fifth goal at 4:56 in the third period.  In a 5-0 victory over Lawrence University (Wis.) on Dec. 14, Krause scored the game's first two goals, one in the first period and one in the second, while assisting on the fourth goal of the game.  For the season, he has a team-high 14 points and seven goals, while adding seven assists, tied for second most on the team.
