Andrew McCabe Named NCHA Player of the Week

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's hockey player Andrew McCabe (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) has been named Player of the Week in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association for the week ending November 5.

The senior captain recorded four points last weekend in a two-game sweep of non-conference opponents that kept the Blugolds perfect at 4-0.

On Friday night McCabe scored a goal and assisted on another as the Blugolds defeated Hamline 5-4. His power play goal at 16:05 of the second period tied the game 3-3. Just over two minutes later McCabe assisted on a David Donnellan (Jr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) goal that gave UWEC a lead they would not surrender.

In game two of the weekend set McCabe again had a goal and an assist, this time in a 3-2 win over Bethel. His goal tied the game 1-1 midway through the first period. Late in the second, with the score tied 2-2, McCabe assisted on a goal by Jordan Singer (Sr.-Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial). That goal proved to be the game-winner.

McCabe has seven points in four games played this season. He has three multipoint games.
