Men's Hockey Remains Perfect with Win Over Bethel

BLAINE, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team won its fourth straight game, maintaining an undefeated start to the season for the first time since 2008. The Blugolds recorded the win against Bethel University (Minn.) on the road in a 3-2 victory.

The game began with a high scoring first period in which both teams scored two goals.

The Blugolds broke the tie in the second period when Jordan Singer (Sr.-Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) scored with 30 seconds left in the period.

The Blugolds' offense had plenty of opportunities, recording 40 shots throughout the game.  Singer and Mark Pustin (Jr.-Northridge, Calif./Granada Hills) both had six shots in the game, leading the Blugolds.

Andrew McCabe (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Singer each had one goal and one assist tonight.

Alex Bjerk (Sr.-Roseau, Minn.) played the full game in net for the Blugolds, stopping 22 of the Royals' 24 shots. 

The Blugolds will look to continue their strong start this season when they play two games at St. Scholastica (Minn.) next weekend, the first on Friday at 7 p.m.
