EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire athletics department announced today that Mike Greer has stepped down as head coach of the men's and women's golf teams and a national search for a new coach will begin immediately.

Greer, a Class A member of the PGA of America, relinquishes his coaching duties due to his promotion at the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club where he is now the PGA Head Golf Professional.

"It has been an honor and privilege to work with such talented and hardworking student-athletes and staff at UW-Eau Claire," said Greer. "know these accomplished golfers will continue to make the program, University and community proud on and off the golf course.  I wish everyone the best of luck this spring and beyond."

A four-time letter winner for the Blugolds, Greer received honorable mention All-American honors in 2004 and was named to the PING All-Central Region Team in 2007.

In his two seasons coaching the women's team, Greer led the Blugolds to two second-place finishes in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).

In his four years on the men's side, Greer had one player earn NCAA Division III PING All-America and another earn NCAA Division III All-Freshmen Honors, one of six in the nation to be recognized.
