Men's Golf takes 2nd at Saint John's Invite

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team turned in a strong performance Sunday at the Saint John's Invitational at the Territory Golf Club, finishing in second place with an overall score of 863.

The Blugolds turned in their best round in the third and final round on Sunday, shooting a 284, the second best score in the field.

Joey Dreier (Jr.-New London, WI) was the top finisher for Eau Claire, shooting a 71 and 69 on the day for an overall score of 212 to finish fifth. Brady Hanson (Jr.-Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) followed Dreier with an overall score of 213 (72, 69) to tie for sixth place.

Also breaking into the top 25 was Ryan Isaacson (So.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial and Phillip Johnson (Fr.-Eagan, MN) who finished tied for 13h and tied for 25 with overall scores of 218 and 221, respectively.

"I'm so proud of the momentum these boys had for 36 holes," said Head Coach Courtney Everett. "They hunted for birdies and we actually led the field in our birdie count. This team knows how to never give up against some of the toughest teams in the nation. I'm grateful to coach such a great team."

The tournament wraps up the 2015-16 season for the Blugolds.
