Men's Golf 8th after round 1 at Augustana Invite

MILAN, Ill. (Blugolds.com) – After facing tough weather conditions for round one of the Augustana Invitational, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team is in eighth place with a score of 329.

Round 1 Results

Brady Hanson (Jr.-Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) led the Blugolds after shooting a 79, putting him in a tie for 14th place. Phillip Johnson (Fr.-Eagan, MN) followed with an 81 while Joey Dreier (Jr.-New London, WI) shot an 83, tying for 31st and 44th respectively.

"Hardest conditions I've played in," said Hanson. Fifty mile-per-hour winds make golf very tough. Putting, I thought, was the most difficult because the wind would move the ball."

"Today was a grind not only due to high winds but it was always changing," added Head Coach Courtney Everett. "The cold temperatures and random snow flurries forced everyone to try to stay warm all while keeping a solid mental game. Higher scores like this is a bit disappointing but I'm proud the guys didn't give up and we are ready for round two."

The Blugolds will return to the links Saturday for the final round at the Fyre Lake National Golf Club in Sherrard, Ill.
