Men's Golf Takes Third at Twin Cities Classic

DELLWOOD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – After a slow start to the three-day Gustavus Adolphus College Twin Cities Classic, the UW-Eau Claire men's golf team went from 11th place on day one to ninth place on day two and then had a strong final round to finish in third place today.

Results

The Blugolds improved their total each day, shooting 308 on day one followed by 300 on day two and 296 on day three, the second best score for the third round. They finished with 904 strokes while the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) won the tournament with 888 and Illinois Wesleyan University took second with 889.

Three Blugolds finished in the top 21 with Patrick Conroy (Fr.-Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi) leading the way with 223 strokes, tied for eighth.

Brady Hanson (So.-Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) and Ryan Isaacson (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) tied for 21st place with 226 strokes.

Winning the event was Alex Kapraun from St. Thomas with 217 strokes.

The Blugolds will be off next weekend and will compete in the final event of the fall Oct. 12-14, the Golfweek Invitational at the Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, Fla.
