Men's Golf Ties for First at Shortened Saint John's Spring Invitational

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team tied for first place out of 18 teams after just one round of competition at the Saint John's University (Minn.) Spring Invitational. The opening round was played Saturday and Sunday's final round was cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

Results

The Blugolds tied Saint John's and St. Cloud State University (Minn.) for the top spot with 296 strokes. Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) took fourth with 298 strokes.

Brady Hanson (Fr.-Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) led the Blugolds, tying for third place with 71 strokes (-1). Eric Hagstrom (So.-Middleton, Wis.) also had a strong round as he shot 72 to tie for seventh. Joey Dreier (Fr.-New London, Wis.) also came in the top 15 as he tied for 12th place with 74 strokes.

Winning the invite, which featured 97 golfers, was Casey Vangsness from Saint John's with 68 strokes.

The Blugolds will wrap up the regular season Friday at the Edgewood College Invitational at Bishops Bay Country Club in Middleton, Wis.
