Men's Golf Ties for Third at Saint John's Fall Invitational

SARTELL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team tied for third place out of 23 teams following two rounds of competition at the 2013 Saint John's Fall Invitational.

The Blugolds shot 304 on day one and 298 on day two to finish with a total of 602 strokes, tying with the University of Manitoba, which led the field after day one. Nebraska Wesleyan University won the event with 595 strokes and St. Cloud State University was second with 599.

Four Blugolds tied for 14th place or better with Jake Erickson (Jr.-Chaska, Minn./Academy of Holy Angels) leading the team with 148 strokes, tied for sixth place. Nick Bertram (So.-Onalaska, Wis.), Ben Brooks (Sr.-Beaver Dam, Wis.) and Joey Dreier (Fr.-New London, Minn.) all tied for 14th place with 152 strokes.

Manitoba's Josh Wytinck led the 120-golfer field with 143 strokes (-1).

The Blugolds will be at home next weekend for their annual Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Collegiate Invitational, which will be played Sunday and Monday at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club.
