Men's Basketball falls to No. 20 Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team fell to No. 20 UW-Stevens Point on Saturday night, with the Pointers coming away with a 62-44 win.

The Pointers never trailed in the contest and held a 27-17 lead at the half. Eau Claire would cut into the lead early in the second half but Stevens Point would maintain in control and earn the conference win.

Ben Widdes (Sr. – Rice Lake, WI) led the Blugolds with a team-high 14 points while Steve Christiansen (Sr. – Apple Valley, MN) chipped in 11. Wilyam Wright (Sr. – Bollingbrook, IL/Plainfield East) pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Eau Claire shot 33 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from three while the Pointers shot 40.8 percent and 36 percent, respectively.
