PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team fell on the road Wednesday night, falling to UW-Platteville, 81-62.

Box Score

The Pioneers grabbed the lead early thanks to shooting over 50 percent from the field and over 60 percent from three in the first half while the Blugolds shot 43.5 percent from the field and were 2-of-6 from the three-point line. Platteville's hot shooting led to a 45-22 advantage heading into the locker room.

Eau Claire's offense would get going in the second half and outscored the Pioneers 40-36 but it would not be enough for a come-from-behind win. The Blugolds finished the game 23-for-55 (41.8 percent) from the field but only 6-for-21 (28.6 percent) from beyond the arc.

Spencer Page (Fr. – Rice Lake, WI) came off the bench to lead Eau Claire in scoring, tallying 14 points in 24 minutes. Ben Widdes (Sr. – Rice Lake, WI) also finished in double figures, recording 13 points.

Eau Claire (9-7, 2-3 WIAC) will be back in action Saturday as they host UW-Stout at 7 p.m. for the second game of a men's and women's doubleheader. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app on your mobile device.
