Blugolds suffer first WIAC loss of the season

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team hosted the UW-La Crosse Eagles at Zorn Arena on Wednesday night. Although creating a close game at multiple points, the Blugolds were unable to come out with the win and fell to UW-La Crosse, 39-58.

The Blugolds were able to keep the game close for the most part, trailing by only five points at half. However, during the second half La Crosse was able to set themselves apart from the Blugolds to come out with the victory.

Following the trend of the season, the Blugolds were able to convert 17 bench points in the game. Integrating bench players into the game has been a key component to the Blugold men's success this season. As a team, the Blugolds obtained 32 rebounds and shot 71.4 percent from the free throw line.

Stat leaders for Eau Claire included Cam Kuepers (So. – Madison, WI/Lakeside Lutheran) who tallied eight points, followed by Cole Rabedeaux (Jr. – Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap) and Sean Miller (Jr. – Waukesha, WI/Kettle Moraine) who both scored seven. Rabedeaux also recorded two of the team's four steals on the night.
