ASHLAND, WI (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire men's basketball team traveled north to face the Northland College on Tuesday night and would come away with a 72-61 win.

Box Score

The Blugolds trailed 8-13 early and fell behind by as much as 12 points halfway into the first half. However, the Blugolds were able to make a comeback after going on an 9-0 run thanks to six points in a row from Cole Rabedeaux (Jr. – Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap) and a three pointer by Cam Kuepers (So. – Madison, WI/Lakeside Lutheran). This momentum led to the Blugolds keeping things close for the remainder of the half and going into the locker room down only 33-36.

Wilyam Wright (Sr. – Bollingbrook, IL/Plainfield East) drained a three right out of the locker room for the Blugolds to tie things up at 36. The Blugolds dominated on offense after that point. The team was able to hold a lead over Northland for the whole remainder of the second half.

Ben Widdes (Sr. – Rice Lake, WI) led the way in points for the Blugolds with 20, followed by Rabedeaux with 17 points. Blake Wacholz (Jr. – Lakeville, MN/South) recorded six of the teams impressive 16 steals on the night, which ultimately led to 23 points off turnovers. UW-Eau Claire tallied eight three pointers during the game, converting 40 percent of their three point shots compared to Northlands 18.8 percent.
