Three Blugolds Earn All-WIAC Honors

MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) office announced the 2016 All-WIAC men's basketball awards on Wednesday, with three Blugolds earning recognition.

WIAC Release 

George Diekelman (So. – Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) led the way for the UW-Eau Claire, earning First Team All-WIAC honors for the first time in his career. The only sophomore to be named to the First Team, Diekelman led the Blugolds in assists (64) steals (28) and was second in three-point field goal percentage (.402) and made three-pointers (33).

In the WIAC, Diekelman tied for seventh in rebounding (5.4), eighth in assists (2.71), ninth in field goal percentage (46.5%) was tenth in scoring (13.4)

Jack Martinek (Jr. New Brighton, MN/Irondale) garnered Honorable Mention honors after leading the Blugolds in points per game (14.1) and the WIAC, the junior was tenth in field goal percentage (45.9%) and 13th in scoring (12.0) and assists (2.07)

Jared Schneidermann (Jr.-Brooklyn Park, MN/Concordia Academy) was named to the five-member All-Defensive Team after leading the team in rebounds per game (6.6) and blocks (18). In the WIAC, the junior was third in blocked shots per game (.79) and sixth in rebounding (5.7).

Jared Miller (Sr.-Colfax, WI) was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
