Blugolds Honored by NABC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Blugolds.com)  – Four members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2014-15 Honors Court, as released on Thursday.

Eric Effertz (Ladysmith, WI), Kurtis Moody (Pequot Lakes, MN), Cavan Stackpool (Virginia, MN/Virginia Secondary) and Kevin Jensen (Victoria, MN/Chanhassen) made the list for the Blugolds.

The Honors Court recognizes men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. In total, a record number of 1,000 student-athletes from more than 350 colleges and universities earned the honor.
 
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The player must: be a junior or senior academically and a varsity player, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2014-15 academic year, have matriculated at least one year at their current institution and be a member of an NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.

The Blugolds also received the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2014-15 season.

UW-Eau Claire was one of over 175 colleges and universities to earn the honor, which recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. The Blugolds were one of three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams to be honored by the NABC.
 
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in NCAA Divisions I, II, III and NAIA Divisions I and II must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2014-15 season.
