PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team fell on the road Wednesday night, losing 79-66 to UW-Platteville at Bo Ryan Court.

Box Score

The Pioneer offense was hot right out of the gate, nailing seven of their first eight shots from the field. Despite the early Pioneer lead, the Blugolds rallied late to cut the deficit to 11 to end the half as Platteville led 40-29.

It was the Blugolds who had the momentum to start the second half, pulling within one, 44-43, within the first six minutes. However, that was as close as they would come, with Platteville hitting a three to end the Blugold rally.

Platteville would go on a run of their own to finish the second half, coming away with the 79-66 victory.

Tyson Kalien (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, WI) had another double-digit night, leading the Blugolds with 19 points.  Lewis Mau (Sr.-Colfax, WI) also added 18 points while Jack Martinek (So.-New Brighton, MN) and George Diekelman (Fr.-Stevens Point, WI) led the team with six rebounds a piece.

The Blugolds (6-11, 2-6 WIAC) will return to Zorn Arena Wednesday to host UW-Stout at 7 p.m. Eau Claire won the last match-up with the Blue Devils on January 7th, earning a 75-72 win on the road.
