Men's Basketball Falls to UW-Oshkosh at Home

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – In a game where the UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team never led, the UW-Oshkosh Titans were able to defeat the Blugolds 65-48 on Ken Anderson Court in Zorn Arena tonight.

The score was tied just once, one minute into the game (2-2), but the Titans led the rest of the way.

Oshkosh outscored the Blugolds 21-10 over the first 10 minutes of the opening half and the closest the Blugolds could get after that was seven points.

The Titans led by 10 at halftime (34-24) and the Blugolds were unable to get the deficit back to single digits the rest of the night. Oshkosh led by as many as 18 points, midway through the second half.

Jacob Kohner (So.-Bloomington, Minn./John F. Kennedy) led the Blugolds in scoring with 14 points while Lewis Mau (Jr.-Colfax, Wis.) added 12 points. Mau also led the Blugolds in rebounding with eight and had a game-high four assists.

The Blugolds finished the game shooting 34.5 percent (20-for-58) from the field while Oshkosh shot 48 percent (24-for-50). The Titans also outrebounded the Blugolds 35-30.

Eau Claire drops to 10-13 on the season and 3-11 in WIAC play while Oshkosh improves to 11-11 overall and 6-7 in the conference. Because of the loss, the Blugolds will not be able to qualify for the WIAC Championship.

The Blugolds will be off this weekend and will next play on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at UW-Platteville. Action is set to get underway at 7 p.m.
