EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Austin Crow, a former All-America football player at UW-Eau Claire, will serve as a team physician for Blugold Athletics in 2014.
“I am excited about the opportunity to come back and serve the University and community that has given so much to me,” said Crow.
Crow will be joining Chippewa Valley Orthopedics and Sports Medicine where he will provide orthopedic care to the Chippewa Valley with a focus on sports medicine, arthroscopy, shoulder and knee reconstruction, shoulder and knee replacement and fracture care.
Since graduating from UW-Eau Claire, Crow attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine. After medical school Crow completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin where he had the opportunity to help cover Badger athletic teams including football sideline coverage. Most recently Crow completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Virginia where he had training in advanced arthroscopic and open reconstructive procedures of the shoulder, knee and hip. While at Virginia Crow also had extensive athletic coverage of the Cavalier Athletic teams who compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
On the gridiron Crow was a member of the 2001 conference championship team that went 8-2 overall on the season going 5-2 in conference play. Over Crow’s four years at Eau Claire (2000-03) the Blugolds had a combined record of 27-13 with an 18-10 conference record.
Individually, Crow was a four-time letterwinner for the Blugolds who was named a team captain and Defensive Most Valuable Player in 2003. Crow was a three-time All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) selection, earning first-team honors in 2001 and 2003 in addition to being named second team in 2002. In 2001 Crow received honorable mention All-America honors from D3football.com.
Academically Crow was named the WIAC Football Scholar-Athlete in 2003. Crow was one of four Blugolds named WIAC Football Scholar-Athlete from 2001-04, a feat which has never been accomplished in the 29-year history of the award.
Crow is married to Jessie (Oswald) Crow, a UW-Eau Claire alumna who graduated in 2005 with a degree in Special Education. The Crows have two children, Kellen and Ellie.
